On January 6, 2001 the Living Seas received 5 juvenile green sea turtles from the mass cold stunning event in the Florida panhandle. Two of these turtles were released following rehabilitation and were given pit and flipper tags. Satellite transmitters were attached to these turtles prior to their release.
On September 5th the turtles were released near Port St. Josephine with a modified ST-19 transmitter. Turtle #24887 traveled east / southeast for approximately 250 miles, while turtle #24888 stayed relatively close to the release site. The quality of subsequent transmissions indicated that we continued to have challenges with antennae design.
