Progress towards the goal:
Reports from the AZA Cracid Taxonomic Advisory Group
- The Houston Zoo sponsored the AZA Cracid Regional Collection Planning
Session in April, 1996.
- Studbooks were compiled for:
- Northern helmeted curassow, Pauxi pauxi
- Wattled curassow, Crax globulosa
- Blue-billed curassow, Crax alberti
- Yellow-knobbed curassow, Crax daubentoni
- Bare-faced curassow, Crax fasciolata
- The St. Louis Zoo began to see success this year with their artificial
insemination project for the Common Piping Guans. New techniques were used to
facilitate proper sampling.
- The San Diego Zoo took a leading role in facilitating the move of two
female Blue-billed Curassow from the U.S. to the Cali Zoo in Cali, Colombia.
