The Mola Design:

Mola is the Kuna Indian word for an intricate reverse-appliqué technique. The Kuna Indians inhabit the Panamanian Island of San Blas. Artist, Kathy Hupko, created this modern rendition of the Mola for the Third International Cracid Meeting at the Houston Zoological Gardens in 1994. The bird is a Mayan depiction of a curassow in the rainforest.
